Photographing in the rain can be a challenge when schlepping a camera on a tripod while holding an umbrella over myself and the gear. But, I thought it would be a worthwhile break from my usual regimen. Here are two of today's 'graphs!

Castaway Island Preserve is a vast salt water marshland I visited several years ago, but haven't been back to until today. Despite a lot of walking I only took a few photographs. The several worth keeping are below. These would have been okay subjects for color, but I prefer monochrome so that's what I used.

The lone tree image at the bottom is important to me because the property it sits on has just been sold, and I have no idea whether the new owner will keep it. It is of no particular use other than as a place to tack up the sign for BAIT which used to hang there. The other two photographs are just nice views in places I have often visited and photographed previously.

I finally had a chance to do some photography yesterday albeit in the middle of a bright, clear, cloudless afternoon. That can be visually very boring. However, I thought of an alternative place to go where the sky would not need to be included and the design of the grounded subject would be sufficient to make a photograph. Here are three from a roll of twelve...25% isn't as minimal as one might think!

Looking in a box of old photographic prints, I came across this that I made sometime in the early 1970s. It's the window of a gallery on the upper east side of Manhattan. I was walking to Central Park on a weekend day with my camera and saw it which surprised me quite a bit! I've looked for the gallery based on its facade on Google Maps Street View, but had no luck so far.
