From the archives, Happy Halloween!

I realized that I haven't visited the Saint Johns River with my camera for quite some time!  So, I did that today at Walter Jones Historic Park. The building sort of hidden by the trees is a museum. Here are the several photographs I made today mostly facing the river.

Here are two more made yesterday with the Holga 120 WPC to accompany the one I already posted. It's an interesting aesthetic that offers a radically different perspective than other cameras. If film had not become so expensive with the rise of digital, I would do a lot more with this elemental device!

Long exposure photography can be a challenge!  I'm not completely happy with these, but they're sorta okay.  I have to do a lot more to learn the techniques, but this was an enjoyable start!  The wide photograph at the bottom was made with a Holga 120WPC wide angle pinhole camera...no lens, no shutter, no controls other than exposure time. I did futz with it a bit in Photoshop Elements, though!

Back to Boneyard Beach today which never disappoints. The fallen trees remain for decades, but wind waves, and tides move things around. Changing light also adds drama as seen here. And, the Trunkabranchasaurus also showed up not far from the entrance to the beach.

Coming back two weeks later than my previous post, this place was completely different with sun, wispy clouds, and still air. These six were the best of the twelve negatives I scanned.

I wanted to visit some familiar places with my camera today, but I was too busy at home to leave. So...I looked at the sky and the backyard trees and decided there was something worthwhile to photograph right here.

The photographs I posted last were the ones I thought were keepers. There were still a few that didn't make the cut that I decided to revisit today and futz with a bit including adding a sepia tonality. Even so, I couldn't decide which to discard so here are those three. This kind of dilemma is the reason one MUST work with a really competent editor who will not treat treat each negative as a beloved child who just needs attention and nurturing! But, I'm not preparing a book, so my 'children' get to live here at least!

I think the middle one of these isn't too bad, so I'm giving the other two this trophy!  ;)

This pullout area next to Heckscher Drive has been unavailable for the past year or so due to roadwork. The roadwork seems to be finished in this place allowing me to visit for the first time since the work began. It's an odd little place in some ways, but the gnarly trees and brush are always interesting. Here are some images from today.
