This is what it's all about here.  The ocean is an easy 20 minutes away, and completely accessible...no fees, no parking stickers, plenty of parking in the off season, and beaches that are never too crowded in or out of season. It's odd for me, as a New Yorker, to see people in bathing suits on the beach in early October, and it's likely that that will continue for yet another month to a lesser extent.  It's also kinda fun to be there in the middle of a weekday without guilt or penalty!  lol!

I really admire the simplicity in your images. Very calming. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work as you get to know Florida.

I'm new to the area, too. My husband & I moved here to St. Johns from Atlanta in late January. I love the area & have so much that I want to explore now that I'm out of my summer hibernation (I despise humidity!) Hopefully you're enjoying these cooler temps. I know I am.

Cheers! Donna

Thank you, Donna. From the look of images on your blog, you're attracted to subjects that interest me too...and nice work! We also share abhorrence of humidity. My wife is native to Jax, so she's used to it, but for me it's been, as you wrote, reason to hibernate. I wonder how many refugees from Florida would go streaming up I95 if there were no AC for a month. Yikes!! ;-)

Thank you, Paulina.

I have been visiting your site for several years and enjoyed your work from up North. You recently responded to a query of mine on the APUG site (about Hudson River photos/paintings). Beautiful day in lower Westchester as I write this; foliage is just starting to change. I look forward to seeing your "Florida style" evolve. Check out Clyde Butcher's work, if you are not already familiar with same.

Thank you very much, Peter. I taught strings and orchestra at SMS for 28 years so I know your town very well. I look forward to this new environment, and hope I become as enamored with it as I did the Hudson Valley. But, I miss 'home' very much and always will.
